As they say in OZ "good on you"!!!

Glad the strength came to overcome a disastrous addiction. My brother in law told me he had to get out of the Navy before he became a drunk. He was the ex officer of a fleet tug in Japan and served two tours on a swiftboat, offshore, in Vietnam. On a goodwill tour in Japan he got so drunk he walked thru a glass door and did a naked trip to the hospital. That incident woke him up to what had to be done.

Another Japan story

The whatever # fleet was parked at Japan and had a big fleet party. The captain of my brother in law's fleet tug put an ice cube down the dress of the admiral,s wife!!!! Next day the admiral's jig hove up to the tug and my BIL had to get dressed and go get dressed down by the admiral. My BIL had to come back to the tug and relay the admiral's dressing down as he, the admiral, was too angry to do it.

His other task aboard was to write letters home for the crew when parents would complain of the lack of news. He found Vietnam a lot less boring that pulling barges.

Congratulations on 30 years! Yes there is a God for sure! He came to me in a dream...let me start at the beginning. I have always been fascinated by the Transfiguration (Matthew 17:1-12). Truly he was God made man. Well a couple of years ago he appeared to me in a dream. The important part is that as he was speaking He turned to me and said regarding His appearance "Not really what you were expecting?" I was dumbfounded but what happened next was even more so. He transfigured himself. He became a light that was so intense and white yet it wasn't blinding or painful to look at. And a sensation of LOVE so intense that it is indescribable overcame me. As i was basking in the light and love I woke up.

I have no idea why I'm sharing this with you, I have shared it with a few people but never with social media but I was inspired. I'm sure by the same God that cured you of alcoholism and showed Himself to me.

Very proud of you. I remember you telling me this story and I tell it often.

I was with Dad the day he decided to stop. Him and Mom had beeen in a huge fight like none other. We were coming home from work and didn’t speak a word. We got on to Marter Ave and he asked, “Do you think I’m an alcoholic?” I told him to thought he was. He nodded his head and said he’s stop. I asked if he was going to go to AA and he said no. I asked why and he said because he was embarrassed. He said he would stop and be did.

To celebrate having gone 80 revolutions around the sun, my wife gave me this book:

“The Book Of Unusual Knowledge” (c) 2012

>> It took about 30 million hours for Stone Age workers to build Stonehenge <<

ISBN-10: 1-4508-4580-0

Being a random reader, I scanned contents table and dove into

Chater 15: Technology and Inventions (pages 441 thru 481)

Acronym ARPANET (aka DoD DARPA incubator) peaked my curiosity!

One man’s vision of an “inter-galactic” computer network.

But subsequent role of ALOHAnet was excluded.

So my reflexive recursive inquiry mode engaged!

As an ad-hoc Wikipedia Editor, I added Norman Abramson under external links:

Excerpt from digital Wikipedia article addition:

>> Decades later, when an interviewer asked whether ALOHAnet could have been invented on the mainland, Abramson jokingly responded, "Definitely. Any mainland institution could have eventually come up with a similar system — but the surfing wouldn't have been as good." <<

This motivation meshed with my own USNR-LTjg (O-2) after NAVOCS (A-703) indoctrination.

Having safely engaged in 18 months of UNREP delivery services aboard USS Cimarron (AO-22),

our O-6 (Naval Aviator) CO & LDO-XO guided me into a two year extension for transfer to Hawaii

via NAVCOSSACT (WashDC Navy Yard) to complete four month transition in three months.

That mission became possible thanks to a pair of CWOs who shared their rented quarters.

Both Dan Burns and Jack Cowan were superb near-peer coaches, mentors & tutors!

In retrospect,

CDR Grace Hopper had BuPers scan profiles of available talent for transfer to FOCCPAC-Kunia.

Under-appreciated about USN / USNR organizational culture is informal social-systems engineering UNODIR!

A long-term subscription to USNI Proceedings Magazine (Nobody Asked Me, but column) were key influencers.

Pre-NAVOCS training in Metro-MN stressed vital importance of effective listening skills and abilities.

My prior operational field auditing experience introduced me to informal ongoing social network analysis.

I realized that CincPacFlt-EOC (C32) Naval Data Center was guided by OSIS vision of VADM Deputy-CPF until 1972.

Not until visiting West Maui’s Pacific Disaster Center @PDC_Global during Jan-2002

did I begin to grasp longer-term impacts of innovative DARPA technology transfers.

To honor “Fifth Freedom/Influence” of FADM William D. Leahy’s wife (Louise)

via USS Cimarron’s Pass Down the Line (PDL) Logs she inspired during 1939,

I opted to abstract USNI’s “Oral History Project Blurb” into a Wikipedia article:

Brian - Just noticed same three decade (30 year) lag between MindShifting moments and StoryTech sharing.

As FOCCPAC-Kunia (C322) CPF-EOC/JCS-SIOP Sea Surveillance Program (Information Integrity Assurance) guardian during 1970-71, I observed extensive use of nautical charts and creatively-designed daily briefing info-graphics before invasive & pervasive MS-PowerPoint Libraries emerged as default aides to group decision support systems. Same innovative use of concise weather forecasting info-graphics from FWC-Honolulu was also vital.

Both OODA Feedback Loop Diagram & US DoD KM Pyramid graphics are shared within VADM D.C. Richardson’s BioGeography. These are yet another “Fifth Freedom/Influence” tribute to our having effectively shared knowledge, skills and abilities!

Insightful transition tales!

Pass dwn the line knowledge / understanding / wisdom?

>> Surely not self-control, which had as yet not made a significant appearance in my life. <<

Abstract from PDLog aka Psalms 19:8

With all your knowledge, get understanding; and, wisdom will become yours to share!
