In a hypothetical world where I bought a boat, I'm also #TeamTrawler, but the thought of pulling out the card to fill that tank every time I pull alongside the fuel pier is bracing.

Two of the best movies I have seen in a very long time.

When I heard about the movie I looked to my right in the book case for American Prometheus. I got it around the time it was published. We live out beyond the mid California Gold Country Gamma Quadrant so viewing the movie would be a far drive. I would like to compare the book experience with the movie experience. The Barbie movie suffers the same far drive. Thanks for the review.

Too bad my brother in law sold his yacht as it would be perfect for cruising to Maine. Too bad I can't post a photo of it. It is a 50ft boat that was tarted up from a commercial fish boat. It was built by his grandfather, father and uncles during WW2 and launched in 1946.

California will Wellcome your daughter. Hope her school is near the water so she can enjoy the beaches and the ocean. Make sure she visits Yosemite, Lake Tahoe and our wine country. SoCal is also great but not to my taste.

I expect she may be too busy with school to enjoy those places.

I lost my wife late in life, 60's, but also found a partner I call The Wonder Wife. She just flew down to Columbia CA for breakfast with her 99's pals. She scuba's, snow skis, rides horses and for some reason known only to her tolerates me. Winning.

Very good to know on “Barbenheimer!” I had avoided the first movie because I assumed it was going to be a screed against America drooping the bomb, with the usual anti-nuclear nonsense and attacks on “the defense industrial complex.” But if you like it, clearly it must not be that!

Similarly, I avoided the second on the assumption that it had a “girls rule; men suck” message and I don’t feel like sitting through two-hours of being insulted. I suppose I also must be wrong about that impression.

McG—great report as always. Given your locale (I passed near your delightful part of the world on the way to Dewey a few weeks back), your current lack of boat feels highly negligent! Sounds like an early 60th present is in order. In hoc!
